A Thrifted Fav

Happy Monday Juicettes!

As I scarf down our leftover Halloween candy for my breakfast dessert…that’s a thing right?…wait, maybe it’s lunch dessert…I have been up since 4:00a.m with a sickly, teething baby; and it’s 9:00a.m. now, so lunch (dessert) feels about right. I digress. Where was I? Yes, I was about to cleverly link my gluttonous state of mind with the below Menswear inspired pantaloons…ha! Who am I kidding? One could barely toast a slice of bread with the amount of brainpower I have right now. I’ll just quit while I am somewhat ahead…and leave you with this…

Tweedy & Lacey

Hey Juicettes!

Happy hump day! This Momma has a lot on the go right now so I’m gonna make this quick! Not quite ready to embrace Fall fashion just yet so I thought I would style up my thrifted tweed pants with an ultra feminine lace top. I’m all garden party on the top with a touch of Autumn on the bottom. (hey that rhymes!)

Red Head

Happy Friday Juicettes!

Psyche! Bet you thought I made a bold move and dyed my hair red!!  Nope, I wish I was that glamourous. Since the jury is pretty much hung on whether or not pregnant lasses should dye their hair, I have decided to go ‘aux natural’. The idea of toxic ‘chems’ seeping through my cerebellum and into my ‘nubbin’s blood stream is one I could do without. So with that said, I am embracing my mousy brown ( & grey) tresses….along with many of the other freaky symptoms of pregnancy. Whenever I feel ‘cray‘ I just remind myself that I am making brains. BRAINS for God’s sake!!!! Alright, enough of that. Let’s talk fashion!

I have a penchant for tweed….yup it’s true!  Tweed has been a consistent element in my closet for a long as I can remember. Perhaps my love of tweed originated  from my British roots. I remember my Mother and Grand-Mother swooning over the construction of a garment, admiring every detail, from the lining, to the texture, to the buttons! This taught me to appreciate fashion as an art form. So when I spotted this stunning textured tweed tee at Joe Fresh you can imagine my excitement…..did I mention that there are pants to match? Eeeeeekkkkkk!

I paired the tweed tee with my hyped up houndstooth crop pants…..I am days from being too big to wear these!
(might as well go out with a bang!)

Black and gold accents complete the look.
…..on the way out the door I grabbed my wooly toque, sometimes the things we throw on without thinking end up adding the most interest.

Have a great day!

The Schizophrenic Traveler

Happy Monday Juicettes!

Coming off of a very enjoyable and relaxing week-end consisting of friends, family, food, and of course….fun! My fabulous job continues to be full of exciting new challenges, however gone are the days of regular week-ends off.  This past week-end was one of those rare occasions so I made sure to take advantage of every minute!

On Friday night I met my crew for dinner at Delux on Ossington. Here’s what I have to say about Delux (sans le lettre “E”) If I am going to spend $28 for an entree, I would like the waitstaff to perhaps push a comb through their hair and maaaaaaybe put on a pair of dress pants. Just saying!  Attire aside, the food was just o.k. I ordered the Steak Frites, of which the carcass was fair, and the fries ventured into Arby’s territory. To be honest, I expected more from this establishment.

Onward and upwards! Ed and I spent Saturday sauntering about the city, shopping, thrifting, and then capping off the day at Top Chef Master – Susur Lee’s resty! Let me tell you, the food was to die for and the service was absolutely impeccable! If you decide to check out Lee’s, I highly recommend the Braised Beef Ravioli – it is roll your eyes in the back of your head, facial spasm….heaven!

Ack! Sorry for ” Yelping” the crap outta you…..enough food already! Let’s talk fashion….

This is one of my go to week-end persona’s
I call this the Schizophrenic Traveler…
Yeah, that’s right!
An easy, layered mixture of looks… all rolled into one!
This usually consists of something borrowed from the BF’s closet,
over-sized denim, menswear, and some fabulous accessories.

I purchased this tweed Eddy Bauer blazer at Value village for $6.00 at the end of the summer.
(I just recently picked it up from the dry cleaners)
…and this past Saturday I took it for a test drive!
Lurves!!

(Tweed Blazer – Value Village; Hat, Boots – Aldo; Jeans – Joe Fresh; Plaid Shirt – Guess Menswear; T-Shirt – Ed’s Closet, Fur Stole, Sunnies, Bag – H&M; Leather Gloves, Cargo Vest – Club Monaco)

Later Juicettes!
