‘Winterizing’ that cute lace tank I found on the sale rack at H&M for $5.00…remember? When the weather takes a turn for the worst, layering is the key to making your summer wardrobe ‘werk’ for you. My two ‘go to’ pieces for layering a look are: A basic black turtleneck and some sort of vest. When styling up a light summer piece, think about adding a layer underneath and a layer on top to start and see where that takes you. Doing this adds texture and dimension to the look.

Feeling that French Fashion Editor vibe today in my dress…sans cigarette. Mixing up textures: Chambray, Velvet, and Gabardine to name a few! And what the what…black and navy?? Zut Alors! The French make it look so easy!
I thrifted this navy velvet blazer at the Goodwill a few weeks ago and am very happy with it! It could do with a bit of tailoring but i’ll live with it for now. I am hopefully going to take an alterations course next month which I am very excited about! I have always wanted to be able to tailor my own clothes, especially some of the ones I have thrifted.
Really loving block heel boots for the Fall. Splurged on these ones a few months ago. They are from Zara…..I have to say, Zara footwear is killing it this season!
(Blazer, Purse, Belt, Trousers – Goodwill; Chambray Shirt – H&M; Necklace – Target; Shades – Common Sort; Booties – Zara)
Keeping it simple today in my thrifted men’s Ralph Lauren khakis and a basic tee. Bright tangerine accessories dress up the look and a pop of green on my tender tootsies add an unexpected twist. I could also dress this down with a subtle gold necklace, no belt, white converse all stars and aviator sunglasses. Brunch with friends or a casual walk in the park – a pair of classic khakis are a must in any gals wardrobe!

Good Monday Dear Juicettes!
Let’s hop to it! I am a menswear addict! Something about a slouchy, boyish cut, that when paired with a sassy heel, makes me feel oh so effortlessly chic! Thrift shopping in the menswear department is an absolute must for this frugal fashionista! In fact, the ‘broski’ section is a veritable goldmine of stylish treasure. I can’t help but flash back to that episode of The Cosby show when Denise and Vanessa were headed to the Village wearing menswear separates from Cliff’s closet. Oh how uber cool they were! Cliff was none too impressed with his stylish daughters, as was my Dad when I wore his weathered grey t-shirt to the beach with my girl friends….I guess I should mention that it had a felt playboy bunny logo on it. I digress. That was ages ago but my penchant for menswear still runs strong. In today’s look I am sporting a thrifted men’s oxford shirt and Levis 501’s, I feel ready to hang with the gals in the village or saunter off to Yorkville for a quick bite with my bestie. Cheers!
(Shirt – Goodwill; Purse – Value Village; Levis – The Black Market; Belt – The Vintage Depot; Pumps – Platos Closet; Pearls – H&M; Sunnies – The Bf’s)
Have a thrifty Monday!
I watched Pretty in Pink for the millionth time over the week-end – hands down my all time favourite 80’s movie! The teenage angst, the music, the fashion, the Duckman – it just never gets old! I remember being obsessed with Andie Walsh and her kooky thrifted creations. Andie loved her florals and so do I! That said, I am taking a page out of the characters book today….feeling Pretty in Pink…. Florals….isn’t she?

Oh no, where did my leg go? Kind of a weird shot…oh well!
I’m back in full effect with some fresh finds from a few of my favourite thrift joints! Last week I took a jaunty stroll to Queen street: My mission -” to come correct”. I was in dire need of a hair cut and a few more bump friendly pieces to add to my wardrobe. I popped into the carefully curated Common Sort, where I found this boho inspired floral dress…..perfection! I added a dash of glam by styling the dress with a tailored blazer, cropped fur vest and leather gloves.

Happy Canada Day! Ed and I decided to pack a picnic and head on over to the beach yesterday. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! Perfect for catching a few rays and frolicking about in the sand. I decided to rock a 50’s inspired look with my new Joe Fresh bikini, thrifted gingham shirt, and white high waisted cut offs.
We packed a healthy dinner and piled it into this ultra cool ‘thrifted‘ picnic basket (or should I say picnic suitcase) and boogied on over to the beach!
Honestly….how cool is this?
I found it for $5.99 at the Goodwill in Parkdale .
Affectionately dubbed (by moi) the Ghetto Goodwill!
It truly is a hidden gem full of fabulous ‘thrifted‘ surprises!
I love long week-ends!
