My Mom Style

Hey Juicettes!

Ugh! It’s Monday all ready! Where the heck did the week-end go? My problem is that I ram way to much into a week-end and end up exhausted from it all. Before I know it, I am waking up on Monday morning wondering why it feels like I was hit by a Mack Truck (yes, a Mack Truck – and no they did not sponsor this post…lol) I digress.

I can’t complain though, all in all we had a productive week-end. I was able to scratch a few things off my ‘to do’ list, one of them being…blog photos. Difficult to do ‘sans mojo’…might I add. Oh yeah, did I mention that I’ve lost my mojo?  I misplaced it a few weeks ago, somewhere between the 4:00a.m. night feeds, the thinning/falling out hair, and the dark circles under my eyes. Yeah, it’s not pretty…but it’s real and I refuse to paint a perfect picture like some damn Glitter Girl…(no offence GG’s…love ya!) Don’t misunderstand me, I love being a Mom, but I also love being Victoria, and striking the perfect balance is an ongoing struggle. Any Mom’s out there feeling me?

DV7Yikes! Sorry if that was weird, and depressing….time to channel that stern British upbringing and end  this little pity party. Gulp….emotions swallowed….check! Right…sorted, now let’s get down to business. This is my actual Mom style. My go to uniform for playdates, mommy groups, and trips to the grocery store and/or the park is: a chunky knit, oversized vest, some sort of slim pant and boots…..oh and let’s not forget those full coverage shades.

Hey Juicettes!

I’m back in full effect with some fresh finds from a few of my favourite thrift joints! Last week I took a jaunty stroll to Queen street: My mission  -” to come correct”. I was in dire need of a hair cut and a few more bump friendly pieces to add to my wardrobe. I popped into the carefully curated Common Sort, where I found this boho inspired floral dress…..perfection! I added a dash of glam by styling the dress with a tailored blazer, cropped fur vest and leather gloves.

Profiling!

Uncomfortably Gone

Hello?

Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?

Holy Canoli!! It has been WAY too long  my dear Juicettes. Tooooo long!! So much has happened in my life since the last time I posted. Where to begin? Well, as you can see by the gratuitous bump shot above, I have been spending my days couching and gorging on donuts and sugary soft drinks. Hence the bloat. It’s all gone to pot! (yeah, I went there) Alright, alright, alright…..time to end this little ‘Just for Laughs’ moment. My foray into comedy has proven to be muchas lame-oh! I guess I am a little rusty. Blame it on the baby! What? OH Snap! Yes friends………. I’m knocked up. Eighteen weeks to be precise. According to what I have read, the nubbin’ (that’s what I call it…..the word fetus weirds me out) is about the size of a pear. I can’t believe I am half way there already! In 5 months I will be, not just a bitchin’ milk machine….but a Mother! Holy eff! It’s almost too cray for me to imagine! So for the moment I am going to live in the present and enjoy the many things that life has to offer. Such as: tasty food, 8 hours of sleep, seats on the subway, friendly stares and of course…. FASHION!

I am at that in between stage where some of my clothes still fit, but not in a comfortable way, in an ‘Oh shit, if I eat lunch am I going to pop out of my pants’ kind of way. Believe me, when twelve o’clock hits, skipping lunch or ‘eating lite’ is not an option! Therefore, donning clothing with room, or with stretch is an absolute necessity. Enter thrifted  knitted turtleneck dress c/o Common Sort. The perfect addition to this preggy gals Fall Wardrobe!

I styled the look with an over-sized tweed blazer ‘cinched’ with a belt, a grey leopard print scarf and some tough gal biker boots!
Stylish yet comfortable!
Off to the pub for some grub!!

Feels good to be back!

Good Morrow Dear Juicettes!

First things first…I curled my freaking hair for this post! Believe! ….give props where props are due!!! The last time my hair was this long, I was 18…..back then, my lid was super permed and very BIG! Yikes! One of these days I will dig up some pics. Anyhooty, I think we can all agree that neon pops of colour are all the rage this Spring! I dunno about you, but this thrifty gal (thumbs point to self) is all over this vibrant trend! What do you think about the return of bright neons?

Neon Nay or Neon Haaaaayyyyy?

Believe it or not, I found this over-sized dolman tee at Common Sort, a local thrift store in my hood!
This naughty neon number will most definitely pull double duty as a dress….or a beach cover up!
Honeybee, if you are going to hang in my closet…you better werk!!

I styled the top by tucking the front slightly into the waist of my skirt.
Inspired by J Crew’s Spring curation.

….and the shoes
Nuff said!
