May I just say this…..I am one lucky lady!! Last week I arrived home from a rather grueling day at work to find this amazing Electra Cruiser hanging out all ‘posh-like’ in our not so posh backyard. Looks like my birthday came early this year….Love ya Eddy!! Eeeeeeekkkkkkkkkk! How sweet is this?? Now this bike is not your average run of the mill cruiser….no, no my dear Juicettes…. this bike is something special. It is part of the Electra Bicycle Company’s classic Amsterdam line which features the iconic designs of the Great Alexander Girard – an american textile designer who is deemed to be one of the most influential artists of his time. In the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, Girard designed fabrics for modernist furniture conglomerate, Herman Miller. I have always loved the playfulness of Alexander’s designs: the vibrant colour and the bold graphic nature of his prints truly speaks to his belief that “art is only art when it is synonymous with living.” While researching for this post I came across a rather lovely quote from Mr. Girard which really resonated with me…allow me to share,
“the hope for good design lies in those designers who believe in what they do, and who will only do what they believe. … Contrary to hearsay, it is possible to make a living that way.”

Additional features of the bike include: an enclosed chain guard and mud flaps all decked out with an Alexander Girard mid century linear print!
Did I mention that I have a kickstand!!!!
Cruisin ‘ together!
Ta ta for now!!
